A few words with Rob Tissera
We catch up with tidy favourite Rob Tissera on the release of his brand new single 'Freefalling'...

1). How is the world according to Rob Tissera?
It’s all good in the hood thanks
2). With the exception of your own tracks, do you have a particular track to remember the Summer of 2009?
Propaganda by xinted D (mda & spherical mix)
3).'Freefalling' is your latest track collaboration with Technikal on Tidy, which we are loving btw. Tell me more about the track, how did it come about, and the different mixes?
It’s cover of a track that came out years ago. Me and Alf originally remixed the track exclusively for tidy’s ‘dirty weekender’ cd in 2007. It has been such a hit with everybody ever since, so we decided to give it a bit of an update. We also enlisted our favourite remixers to make it a really weighty package. We’re really happy with everything about the outcome.
4). The track was released as part of the tidy music library available on CD and is available now from tidydigital as a download with some exclusive mixes; are you sad that the number of releases on vinyl is dwindling away or do you believe in embracing the more modern way of getting music to the masses?
The fact is that times change and you have to embrace it. I’m not precious or sentimental at all.
5). What other stuff is in the pipeline from you?
I’ve done a tougher track with rodi style under the the DR DEVICE. The track’s called ‘drug muzik’. It’s much tougher than usual and I love it. I also have quite a lot of bootlegs that I’ve done for fun. These include iio’s ‘rapture’, la roux’s ‘in for the kill’ and fatboy slim’s ‘what da fuck’. I’m now working on the follow up to freefallin’ as we speak.
6). We saw you play at Frantic’s 12th Birthday at Koko; one of London’s biggest club venues. Do you prefer the big production, thousand plus capacity venues or the smaller intimate clubs?
I love both big and small venues. Big venues always feel amazing when they’re full but the atmosphere in small intimate venues can often be totally cool too. I just love entertaining a crowd so I’m happy to play at either :O)
7). What’s the strangest request you have had as a DJ?
I was playing in dubai a couple of years ago and I kept being asked for RUSSIAN music. What’s that all about????
8). What tunes that are due out should we listen out for?
I’m loving rodi styles’s productions. Look out for anything by him for sure!!
9). What tune is guaranteed to get you on the dance floor?
Lost in love by legend B. an awesome all time classic.. the k series mix is the best.
10). Any words of advice to anyone trying to get their first DJ gig?
Have total faith in your ability but don’t be over confident before you’ve achieved anything. Be gracious and polite when applying for work. Never be pushy and make some great music as this is the quickest way to get ahead.
11). We all know and love you for your production and DJ sets, but what one fact would I not necessarily know about you?
I used to be a semi professional footballer. I love football so much :O)
